Gary Wheeler

Gary Wheeler’s dedication to Salem Tennis and Swim Club is remarkable, with roots going back to 1983. His leadership as General Manager for over a decade and his role on the Board of Directors during the club's member-owned era highlight his deep commitment. Becoming a certified Teaching Professional in 1986 and working alongside his wife, Catherine, to pioneer USTA Leagues in Southern Oregon showcases his passion for growing the sport. As Head Coach of the Sprague Boys High School Tennis team since 2006, Gary has led the team to 15 District Titles and 3 State Championships—a testament to his coaching excellence. Now semi-retired, Gary continues to bring his expertise to STSC as one of our Head Tennis Professionals. His journey mirrors the spirit of community and achievement that defines our club.
